2008 Cotton Bowl, Arkansas vs. Missouri, prediction

2008 Cotton Bowl2008 Cotton Bowl, Arkansas vs. Missouri. Missouri was #1 in the nation and all of the sudden they lose to Oklahoma for the second time. After that, they were dropped out of the BCS all together. They were replaced by Kansas whom they had just beaten. So, what is their reward? What do they get for almost being number one? They will play Arkansas who is on an unbelievable high after beating LSU in triple over time. Arkansas will have a new head coach as well. Petrino left the Falcons earlier this week for this job. Petrino will not coach them in this game though.

McFaddenThis is also a game of Heisman Hopefuls. Chase Daniels vs. Darren McFadden. Darren McFadden was 2nd in the Heisman voting for the second straight year, and will most likely leave for the NFL draft. McFadden was one of Nutt’s biggest supporters. He will most likely be thought of as the best player to never win the Heisman. Peyton Manning comes to mind, but I think McFadden was a better college player. Chase Daniels was 4th in the Heisman voting, but fourth in the nation is not bad.

Missouri did not look good in their losses and they looked like they should not have been #1. In fact, they are this year’s poster child for being “Too highly ranked late in the season“. They played in a weak Big 12. Their late season ranking is a good reason for a playoff. Chase Daniels is a great QB, but I really think the conference is suspect this year.

Chase DanielsI pick Arkansas to win. This will get all of the Hog Nation very excited. They will get all excited, and then they will lose McFadden to the draft. I think Felix Jones will come back. I hope Petrino does not leave Arkansas as soon as a star player leaves. I am being facetious, but I do hope that the Hog players will never find notes in their lockers telling them that their coach has moved on. College football player love their coach. They look up to their coach. They learn how to be young men with help from their coach. Petrino is a good hire, and I hope he stays in Arkansas for a long while.

Announcers for the game will be Pat Summerall, Brian Baldinger

Missouri proved its #1 ranking was well deserved! Arkansas was never in the game. The all time (never-to-be-broken) rushing recors was smashed!!!

Wait for next year to see MIZZOU take it ALL!!

Well you can not look good in every bowl game. Arkansas was this years team that ran into a brick wall. Mizzou was ready for everything that Arkansas ran at them.

Wow…Mizzou really made you look like a fool with that idiotic prediction. Did you watched any other MU games this season? If you had, you would of known that Arkansas had no chance of winning and that we deserved to play in a BCS bowl.

“I pick Arkansas to win. This will get all of the Hog Nation very excited.”

    Laughable. HAHAHA.

Scantman… I did watch Mizzou. I watched them lose 2 times. I saw Arkansas beat LSU.

My pick was proven wrong, but idiotic is a bit much bud.

    Mizzou played great. Congrats!

Funny you’re getting mostly responses from Missouri Fans. Well, here’s one more.

So far, T-Tech and Mizzou from the Big 12 have won their bowl games. OK and KS are waiting in the wings. If anyone in the Big 12 was over-ranked, it was Kansas. It could be a good bowl season for the Big 12.

I expected Arkansas to score more. MU is not known for it’s defense. Maybe it was Arkansas that was over-hyped? Listening to the game announcers, one would have thought this was the Arkansas McFadden Bowl. So far, Chase is the only Heissman candidate that won his bowl game (even though his stats sucked). Arkansas committed (whole-hog)to defending the pass. More respect should have been given to the running game. Mizzou has some great running backs which was over-looked.

Missouri did not have an easy schedule. Respect is hard to get sometimes. Missouri being #1 was a bit of a stretch. There were a lot of teams that filtered into the top 5 by default because no one could maintain their ranking. It was just weird year.

Still, the SEC is an excellent conference and Mizzou fans can take pride in beating Arkansas.
