Oh ok, sorry. Auburn was on probation that year, but I suppose they were taken off during the season. Thanks for clearing that up for me Team Tubs. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against Auburn in that argument. I always pull for Auburn when they are playing anyone besides Alabama so I would have loved to see them go to the title game. I have just been hearing that for a long time and wanted to find out what really happened. Thanks!

Again, just some straight talk...

This has always been a bitter rivalry, always will be.
The short term memory seems to side with the Auburn faithful. Believe me, every Bama fan knows the recent history of 6 straight losses. How could we forget with the catchy slogans, t-shirts, videos, blogs, etc..."Fear the Thumb", and on and on. When Bama was rolling up 9 straight victories over Auburn from 1973-1981, you didn't have all of the cutesy slogans, in your face taunting, that the Auburn faithful have exacted these last 6 years. Sure, there is always smack talk, but not near the level of recent years. The reason that Bama fans don't run around in circles and wet themselves over beating Auburn goes back to a Coach Bryant quote to his players, "When you score a touch down or make a big play, don't run around slinging snot, act like you've been there before".
Bama has been here before, alot, and they will be here a lot more.
Ray, can you name the 13 Bama players arrested? You were quick with that stat...a little too quick.
Also, can you back up your GPA claim with facts and tell us where you got the info?
The "cow college" quote is also from the Bear, not a "silly comment". It was based on the predominant curriculum at Auburn in those days.
The Rammer Jammer comment was mine (I'll give you that one...but come on..."Fear the Thumb"??)

Weston - Auburn played in and won the Sugar Bowl in 2004, beating Virginia Tech 16-13. The reason Auburn wasn't in the national title game that year was because of the ridiculous BCS formula that put OU in against USC instead of the Tigers. War Eagle!

Correct if I am wrong AuburnAlumni, but wasn't Auburn on probation for the 2004 season? Isn't that why they were not allowed to go to even a bowl game, much less the national title game? Off subject I know, but I have been hearing this complaint for the past 4 years.

I am a life long Alabama fan and have ridden out the hard times. My freshman year at Bama was the first of the 6 losses at Auburn and so I am glad to finally have one. However, this is some straight unbiased talk about Tuberville.

I agree Tuberville is a good man, and is a great coach if you want to have winning seasons and do well. But in 10 years Tuberville has not produced the goods, meaning a National Championship. That is what Auburn wants more than anything is a clear, defined, unquestionable National Championship. Tuberville got very close once, but for whatever reason, screwed as it was, it didn't happen. A head coach of a football program is the head manager of an entertainment business for a University. If Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple, was brought in to make an award winning product for the company and he failed to do so for 10 years except getting close once...he would be fired. The same is the business decision that fired Tuberville. This is a decision above the Iron Bowl, it is about what Auburn wants ultimately and whether or not Tuberville can deliver that in the near future. I agree with the business decision. I also hope the best of luck to Auburn in their coach hunting....I hope they get a good one that will fire up this rivalry to a level we haven't seen in years.

I too like Steve Spurrier at Auburn even though I hate his guts....I'm with you Ray Henderson!

Roll Tide!

silly comment from Big Al which does no favor for fans of Alabama.

As for the other post from Alabama graduate, fact is T got fired NOT because of the last game of the season but for the entire season. Frankly, I am glad. he made too many mistakes.

As a life-long Alabama supporter, I have always thought Tuberville to be a very good coach. In my humble opinion, he's always had to keep an eye on two people: Pat Dye and Bobby Lowder. Even though Lowder gave the final, somewhat gentle push that moved Dye out of coaching at Auburn, those two have moved in concert since. Dye was a problem for Terry Bowden. Dye and Lowder always lurked in the shadows for Tuberville - from 2003(maybe earlier) until this very day.

Tuberville beat UA six times in a row! He rubbed our noses in it, and why not? He beat the one team everybody wanted him to beat. That seems not to be good enough.

I was 13 years old in '69 when Alabama fans thought Coach Bryant was done. Look at what he did in the 70's.

Tuberville is a good coach and, I believe, a good man. I hope he collects every cent of that $6 million. He deserves it. I hope he is offered a job as Head Coach at a first class institution (not insinuating that Auburn is not first class), and is very successful.

The SEC has lost a good coach and a good man. I wish him well.

Alabama fans seem to have a short memory, because for the last 6 years I believe Alabama has been number 2 (and this statement has multiple meanings) in the state. You may not like Tuberville but he was more that just a good coach. He is a good man, under his leadership his players have higher grade point averages than most schools in the SEC including Alabama and overall his player don't seem to get into the trouble that some schools seem to allow. For instance Alabama has 13 player arrested in the last 2 years under the wonderful leadership of Sabin, that something to be proud of.
