I don't think that's the case, Dan.

For years SEC officiating has gone progressively from bad to worse, culminating in this year's universally recognized debacle.

It's not a conspiracy. It's just bad officiating.

Did you watch the Ole Miss-LSU game from top to bottom? That had to be the worst display of officiating thus far this season, regardless of which team you pulled for.

The 17 second/Les Miles issue at the end of the game should've never happened. On the previous play after 3rd down (a completion, but a TFL nonetheless), the clock was stopped for no reason whatsoever. No time out was called. The ball stayed in bounds. No reason. In short, LSU got a 4th down chance it should have never received.

But even then, Les Miles stated he was calling time-out. For heaven's sake, the refs should be looking for LSU to call time out at that point, but apparently weren't paying attention.

So, regardless, the officiating stunk in that game. It is simply the culmination of years of SEC officiating getting worse and worse.

Flor-I-Dan: Of course you'll call me crazy for saying Conspiracy, your team is benefiting!

Okay, there's a real difference between a holding no call on the opening drive between two Sun Belt teams and a 4th quarter botch in a battle for the SEC West. Or Dustin Doe getting a score on a play that should have been a touchback. Or a series of ridiculous calls that got your team a score back in the 4th quarter versus Arkansas. Or the aforementioned Terrence Cody no-call. Or LSU's September benefeit from that ridiculous Unsportsmanlike conduct call. Or the two no-calls on Aaron Hernandez that allowed Florida to finally pull away from Vanderbilt.

Conspiracy may be the wrong word. But there's a real star system like the NBA in the late 90's developing here. And my frustration is showing.

Al: Oh Al, you notice that I said nothing about the no-call when Terrence Cody did his best Dwayne Rudd impression as they escaped against team Kiffin.

And you know what? Even though have dropped and I will drop Saban as devil jokes like the History channel drops World War II programming? I have been appreciative when the team has crushed without needing a no-call or a bad call.

But I am a fair man. I'll tell you this. I hate all cupcake scheduling. Beyond a win? There's nothing good that comes by playing Georgia State or UT-Chattanooga. But even taking one strong non-conference game is becoming a lot for any college football team. Alabama may take a really bad game to balance? But they play a good one too.

I don't believe I have ever seen such whining as I have this season.

The truth is, there are bad and questionable calls in every single game played, whether that game be Bama-LSU or FAU and Middle Tennessee State. They're a part of the game and always have been.

Suggesting that there is some sort of conspiracy to make sure Alabama and Florida remain undefeated is moronic.

Andrew, this is a pitiful piece of journalism/bloggism. You are seriously going to fault the Tide for playing Chattanooga next week when most of the entire conference played cupcakes this week...Furman, Memphis, UL whatever, UK whatever. Give me a break. As far as the call in the Bama/LSU game, that you are crying like a 3rd grader about, show a little more class and give Bama their due on the defense they are playing. This team is a lot like the 92/93 championship team in that they have a slow offense and a smothering defense.
If you're going to hold your breath and turn blue until Bama loses, just promise to hold up your end of the bargain.
