SEC Week 9 Prediction Pick Briefs featuring Arkansas vs. Vanderbilt

This week is the first part of the SEC in-season downtime. There’s no real marquee game this week, and next week? Next week Tennessee plays a terrible Memphis team and there are three SEC vs. FCS games. So yeah, this is a time for relaxation and reflection.

Like how I went 3-3 last week. Kentucky didn’t cover, LSU didn’t cover, and Ole Miss didn’t either. I’m still 29-24, but yeah.

Remember…
LSU and Alabama are on the bye for their collision course next week and Georgia (-2.5), Mississippi State (-6), and Auburn (-6.5) all cover and win.

South Carolina -17.5 vs. Tennessee
This right here is the easiest money in the world. South Carolina’s among the national leaders in sacks, the Vols are among the leaders in sacks allowed. The average scoring margin between these two teams? 18.7 (Gamecocks:+10.7; Volunteers: -8). Tauren Poole is still a good threat, but like Georgia, South Carolina is great against the run.

Oh, and Marcus Lattimore has declared himself healthy. South Carolina 38, Tennessee 7.

Vanderbilt at Arkansas -20.5
I know that Arkansas has had trouble with dual threat quarterbacks in recent weeks. I know that Arkansas has had trouble with turnovers, third downs, and penalties all year. And I know that they really have nothing left to play for. But that being said?

It’s Vanderbilt. They’re next to last in 3rd down conversions. They allow a good amount of sacks, and they average under 300 yards per game. And for a running game that hasn’t been great? Vanderbilt allows Knile Davis a chance to go nuts.

Arkansas 35, Vanderbilt 9.
