South Carolina vs. Arkansas Prediction Pick 2010

Now while the battle between Alabama and LSU is going to take the prime time energies of the SEC faithful, the real game of the week is going to be here. Ryan Mallett versus Marcus Lattimore. Stephon Gilmore versus Joe Adams. All sorts of fun.

Why? Because clearly Arkansas is going to have a fine day throwing the ball. South Carolina can generate a semblance of a pass rush. But at the rate players in the secondary are dropping, Mallett will not be missing Greg Childs. At least not this week. 300 yards and 3 scores will happen.

But that being said? Anyone who thinks Arkansas is going to cruise is kidding themselves. Marcus Lattimore is healthy and in full beast mode. South Carolina will keep moving the chains because of it. Arkansas is not good at stuffing the run (78th), and for this week? Having to have a front seven that’s facing down Marcus Lattimore is bad news bears.

Lattimore means first downs. Lattimore means trips to the red zone, and quite frankly, Lattimore means touchdowns. And while a healthy Knile Davis has been a good thing for the Hogs? South Carolina’s rush defense is legitimate. He’s not going to make it a third straight win.

How this is going to go down. Lattimore and Mallett get three touchdowns. Mallett and Garcia will trade an interception or two. Arkansas is going to have three redzone possessions generate 9 points.

And Alshon Jeffrey is going to win the game. South Carolina 31, Arkansas 30.
