We're going to see this more than once on Saturday.

BBVA Compass Bowl Prediction Pick 2011, Pittsburgh vs. Kentucky

Unless you’re inexplicably still alive in a Bowl Pool or someone who enjoys versatile talents, this is a game that you’re not having on your radar. It’s not your fault. It’s like Dan Rubenstein once said, there are 35 games and you’ll watch like eight of them.

But the fact of the matter? This game has a real reason to watch. This may be the last time Randall Cobb plays in a Kentucky uniform. And I’ve said it once, and I will say it again. Randall Cobb is my favorite College Football player and I will miss watching him. And when you consider Mike Hartline isn’t going to be playing?

The Randall Cobb experience will be turned up to 11.

Not to say that Morgan Newton can’t have a good game? But if he was going to have a good game, Pittsburgh isn’t exactly the defense you want to have your first start of the year against. They’re a top 20 team in scoring defense, run defense, pass defense, a top ten team in total defense, and only 11 teams are better in regards to yards per play. And while Kentucky’s offensive like has generally been good, Brandon Lindsey and Jabal Sheard are a dynamic pass rushing duo.

And don’t be surprised if Chas Alecxih gets untracked. He’s a boom and bust kind of guy, but he’s a guy who can generate multiple sacks if he gets rolling. However? Derrick Locke is going to be healthy. And Locke is a great runner when healthy. He’ll be good and motivated.

That being said? Despite the fact that Pittsburgh’s offense has not been great, they have a strong tag team at running back. Dion Lewis and Ray Graham as a tag team have combined for 146 yards and 1.75 TD’s per game. Even with Mister Cobble gaining eligibility? Kentucky is still going to have problems stopping this team on the ground.  And if they sell out to stop the run?

Jonathan Baldwin is a physical beast in the air.

The thing of it is? This game seems like a shootout. Like the Pinstripe Bowl. Pittsburgh’s offense is going to be rolling, and Kentucky’s offense will be able to go toe to toe. The question? How will Kentucky’s defense get off the field? I think it’s going to be close for three quarters, but the Wildcats defense will fade in the 4th. Pittsburgh 37, Kentucky 31.

Well you know with it being the Banco Bilbo Vaggins Bowl, we have to anticipate a lot of these plays where the man with the ball hides behind the curtain. Lots of trick plays and naked bootlegs. Really amazing that the sponsor is so ashamed of their corporate name as to disguise it and then provide no explanation on their web page under, "About Us"! It seems that this is an extension of the Sgt Schultz defense of Mr Corzine, that has worked so magnificently for Fuld, Cayne, Killinger, Thompson, Mozillo and Thompson. So Most of the bulk under the Sgt's trenchcoat was the diamonds, gold and US currency he recieved in bribes from Hogan' s heros. Schultz then escaped to Argentina with the rest of the Nazi War Criminals and used his hoarded wealth to found the Bank of Bilbo Vaggins. The trouble started though when it was time to go international and the decendants of Schultz realized keeping Bilbo Vaggins has copy right issues. They hit upon the idea of using the BBVA logo which could not then be actually claimed to be the Banco Bilbo Vaggins.

And they all lived happily ever after except for those other Nazis who ultimately were appropriately brough to justice. But just as with the "Holder", you can't get them all or even just one. !No lo hablo, no lo entiendo, no se nada! That's the Sgt Schultz Pittsburg Defense. Still even with his heroics in contributing to the Allies' war effort , it did not work for Shultz himself as he was denied a spot at the Arlington National Cemetary. The Panthers should be equally ashamed as the bank isof their moniker and founding for showing up for a Bowl bid with less tha 7 regular season wins. MY PREDICTION is they get it here at the Bilbo Vaggins Bowl, as so many back up players for the Kentucky team have to return to playing Basketball and will not make the trip. Kentucky as the result of a weakened bench not deep enough to adequately deal with game ending injuries for the starters.
