Vanderbilt Season Preview Prediction Picks!

And with that entirely search engine optimized post? It’s time for me to get back into this with some more moxie and vigor. And we’ll start with a preview of Vanderbilt. We’ll start with a series of six hyper-specific predictions about the new season.

Does Vanderbilt have hope in James Franklin year one? Actually…

1) The emergence from Jonathan Krause allows whoever becomes Vanderbilt’s starting quarterback to have a legitimate 53 catch receiver in tight end Brandon Barden.

2) And James Franklin’s influence pays instant dividends as LaFonte Thourogood (not really, but the fact that such a name exists in a field other than black stereotypes on local news is inspiring) brings Vanderbilt’s passing game up to a 59.1% completion percentage. And seriously? Charlie Goro is a sleeper.

3) The tag team of Warren Norman, Zac Stacy, and Wesley Tate will take the more competent passing game, and combine for 2,000 yards rushing and 18 touchdowns. These are numbers not seen since 2006.

4) Another name to remember is Tim Fugger. His veteran experience and last name built for lazy jokes is going to come in handy when he gets in on 3 sacks against Elon in the opener.

5) Chris Marve will stay healthy and garner 127 tackles. The importance of this is that last years leader in tackles, Sean Richardson, won’t need to be involved by any stretch. And as any layman can tell you, when a safety leads in tackles? You’re doomed.

6) Vanderbilt’s going to be a scrappy team this year. UConn, Ole Miss, and Army all travel to Nashville, and all are games where I would pick the Commodores. In fact. They’ll be 4-4 going into November. But a bowl game?

That’s just a bridge too far.

Final record: 5-7 (2-6 in the SEC East)
