Arkansas Season Preview Prediction Picks

As an aside, I’d like to welcome Cole Fredrick to the SECFB team. A second regular voice in regards to this fine conference is not only appreciated by me. It will be appreciated by you as well.

But that being said? I still have a lot of teams to do in my season preview prediction picks, and I will put the nose to the grindstone, and leave all suckers home alone.

We’ll continue with Arkansas. Last year, they reached uncharted territory, and if Knile Davis was healthy, this would be a nice sleeper pick to steal the SEC. But as he isn’t, what’s going to happen?

Last Year: 10-3 (6-2) in the SEC West

1. Obviously Tyler Wilson is going to throw 571 passes this season. It will lead the nation in pass attempts. But balance will be lacking…

2. As Dennis Johnson will lead the team in rushing, and yet only rush for 468 yards. In the long term? Knile Davis is going to be super missed.

3. Between the Wide Receivers, Cobi Hamilton is going to have the statistical floor. He will only go for 48 catches and 750 yards and 6 touchdowns. Only.

4. Though that being said? Arkansas will have stories told about how they are not only surviving, but thriving without Knile Davis. Their floor going into November is 6-2. (And that was where they were at that point last year.)

5. And on defense? The linebacking unit will be at its best. Jerico Nelson and Jerry Franklin will combine for over 260 tackles. So yeah. That’s a good number.

6. But that being said, Arkansas schedule gets a lot tougher with South Carolina, Mississippi State, and LSU in the final month of the season. I can see them maybe winning one of three here. So between November and Alabama and Texas A&M back to back? A good year for the Hogs becomes a Cotton Bowl berth.

This Year: 8-4 (4-4) in the SEC West.
