Florida Season Preview Prediction Picks
Last Year? Urban Meyer didn’t have his heart in coaching, and Steve Addazio took his bravura performance in turning the fine-tuned machine of the Dan Mullen era and sold it for parts and earned a head coaching job for his troubles for a malaise ridden 8-5 season with a 4-4 record in the SEC East.
1) The John Brantley era ends with a whimper, after he nearly gives away the game against LSU. They get to 4-2, but with a sensational freshman backing him up? He gets sent upstate to a quarterback puppy farm.
2) That being said? Trey Burton will be more than a YouTube comedy stud. In between his short yardage running and his Wildcat quarterbackery. He will account for 18 touchdowns. And the only touchdown in the LSU game that Brantley tries to give away.
3) Jeff Demps will have a typical Jeff Demps kind of season. He’ll be spectacular for three games, play another two, and miss seven games with a various set of maladies.
4) The other breakout player for the Gators? Ronald Powell. He’s going to be making his way into the conference sack race title. 10? That’s going to happen. 15? Not impossible.
5) While Janoris Jenkins will destroy division two, but he’s not going to be missed this season. Any game that Florida loses, they were losing anyway.
6) The quick question, will Florida get back to the lifestyle they were accustomed to? Not this year. A team in transition coming off a down year doesn’t get out of the wilderness. Now that being said? I don’t think they’ll be down long. The SEC East is infinitely easier at this juncture, and Florida will have a much easier schedule next season.
But that being said? Will Muschamp will need to do better in 2012.
This year: 7-5 (4-4) in the SEC East
