LSU vs. Oregon, Prediction Pick 2011
On Saturday in Dallas, two teams who haven’t exactly had the smoothest sailing in the offseason find their way into Jerryworld for a game that could very well have BCS championship implications. Last years BCS Runner-Up (without all world Cornerback/Return Man Cliff Harris) takes on the Bayou Bengals (without Jordan Jefferson, Russell Sheppard, and OC Steve Kragthorpe.)
To be honest, if LSU is going to win? Spencer Ware is going to have to do a lot of the work. Because despite the mess that was the Tigers August, 4 returning starters on the offensive line are going to be able to generate some push on the running downs.
The fact is, while Les Miles may be Daredevil? Jarrett Lee is a problem at quarterback. He wasn’t good enough to wrest the job from Jordan Jefferson during last years quagmire, and the last time he had the job? Pick sixes came in spades.
Free Safety John Boyett? He’s absolutely salivating at the chance.
In fact? When it comes to the pass rush, Oregon’s front four is better. Maybe Anthony Johnson changes the game, but Oregon will get to Jarrett Lee if he has to throw.
Now that being said? LSU has two defensive weapons that Oregon just doesn’t have in Tyrann Mathieu and Ryan Baker. At points they will be set loose, and with a freshman center who is a lot more name than game until proven otherwise (Hroniss Grasu), attackers in the back seven are a big thing to deal with.
But that being said? LaMichael James and Derron Thomas are going to be in the backfield. That almost was enough despite Nick Fairley filming his NFL video resume. And if the line manages to avoid letting Anthony Johnson start to race Jadeveon Clowney for the sack crown? Oregon wins this easily.
But as it is? Spencer Ware will get two touchdowns by himself, Les Miles triplejumps the chessmaster for another one. But it will not be enough.
Oregon 28, LSU 21.
