Alabama Season Preview Prediction Picks

I believe in Duron Carter.

Alabama Season Preview Prediction Picks

Here it is, the final season preview. Alabama. The Crimson Tide. The preseason National Champion. Again. Last year it didn’t amount to a hill of beans. What happens this year? Well…

Last Year: 10-3 (5-3) in the SEC West.

1) Trent Richardson will run for 1158 yards. Doesn’t sound impressive, right? Well, he’ll miss two games with an ankle injury. So look who’s the fool, now? It’s you.

2) Will Duron Carter live up to the hype? Think about it like this. 90% of Julio Jones is 70-1020-6. Duron Carter may fall somewhat short of the catches and yards, but 65-929-6 is a very strong year. So yeah. I believe the hype.

3) A.J. McCarron will become more than a mere hot click with his performance this season. Not saying he’ll be as efficient as Greg McElroy. But 2500 yards and 21 TD’s against 9 picks? That’s 12 solid days.

4) Courtney Upshaw will be sent on the blitz more this year. Last years inexperience led to a more straight up attack for the first couple of months. It cost them a game or two. And Courtney Upshaw will get 11 sacks this year.

5) Alabama will have the early lock on the crown for best defense of the decade. Last years defense was great when you consider the fact that there were only two starters returning. Marcell Dareus left early, but that won’t matter so much. They’ll threaten to allow under 10 points per game for the season. They will allow under 3 yards per carry and 4 yards per play.

6) By all rights, this is the SEC National Championship Candidate. Like I said, the defense looks like a beast. But some of you remember I made my call of upset of the year. Mississippi State was going to beat Alabama in November. Here? Here I’m doubling down.

It’s going to take some electioneering to get the SEC into the BCS title game.

This Year: 11-1 (7-1)

And for posterity’s sake? Here’s my SEC season. With a couple of disclaimers. (This was before Connor Shaw was named starter for the Gamecocks, and before Kentucky looked like they could never win a conference game even if you spotted them 20 points.
