Marcus Lattimore always between South Carolina and disaster.

SEC Prediction Picks in Brief, week 4 featuring Vanderbilt at South Carolina.

I am rolling with the marginal right now in regards to record. I was 3-4 last week. So by the hair of my chinny chin chin, I am over .500. 12-11-1. But like Thomas Jefferson said, it’s not the critic who counts. I’m putting myself out there.

This week? Alabama pulls away late vs. Arkansas, Tennessee faces the dreaded bye week, and Les Miles goes into Morgantown and will emerge physically unscathed.

Auburn -31.5 vs. Florida Atlantic
What happens when the resistable force meets the movable object? This game will be an object lesson. The worst offense in the FBS takes on the 117th worst defense. And considering that the Florida Atlantic is also 107th on defense? Auburn wins, and wins comfortably. For once. Auburn 49, Florida Atlantic 14.

Mississippi State vs. Louisiana Tech +20
It seems like a letdown spot after Houston came all the way back to beat Louisiana Tech after being down by 27 late in the 3rd quarter. And when you consider that Louisiana Tech’s offense isn’t that great (4.9 Yards Per Play) I believe in the Mississippi Bulldogs to win comfortably, and let up for the backdoor cover. Mississippi State 35, Louisiana Tech 17.

Georgia -10 at Ole Miss
Like I said to start with, Georgia had the look and feel of a 9 win team. Whether or not that’s enough for Mark Richt? It doesn’t matter, right now Ole Miss is bad at everything. Georgia, on offense alone, manages to win and win with a near Coastal Carolinian ease. Georgia 38, Ole Miss 3.

Florida -19.5 at Kentucky
I know this could be a little bit of a look ahead spot and Florida does bog down inside the 20. But the fact remains, Kentucky’s offense gets no push in the run game and Morgan Newton can’t throw. Florida runs wild in the second half and wins with comfort. Florida 35, Kentucky 10.

Vanderbilt +16 at South Carolina
Far too many points are on a team that is basically just Marcus Lattimore right now. The defensive line is doing very little, and Stephen Garcia has regressed as if Houston Nutt was his spirit animal. Vanderbilt’s going to have to keep South Carolina under 20 if it’s going to win. But barring the Gamecocks wearing Lattimore out? I can’t see it. The Gamecocks barely escape again. South Carolina 24, Vanderbilt 20.
