LSU vs. Auburn, Prediction Pick 2011
Now considering yesterday’s post with all that noise about the three suspensions LSU is facing, we have some columnists by Toomer’s Corner looking at this game being close. And as we all know, when Auburn keeps it close, magic happens. Does the BCS get its first major cataclysm? Or are we just in need of a narrative beyond galumphing to November 5th? Find out here.
First of all, I made mention of the fact that LSU doesn’t seem like they’re going to miss Spencer Ware at all. Their offense is legitimately good. Between the efficiency of Jarrett Lee, the Freshman sensation of Odell Beckham rounding out a solid crop of receivers, and Alfred Blue and Michael Ford. You need a good defense to stay with them. Now Auburn has had good performances, but when you consider their inconsistencies? Blue and Ford could very well win the game by themselves.
And LSU’s defense, while initially seeming like they going to have to go to a more vanilla setup in regards to it being down two key members of the secondary, lucks out once again in regards to matchup. Trovon Reed isn’t likely going to play, and right now it’s a coinflip if Emory Blake could either. And the thing of it is, if the Tigers are going to win? They are going to have to unsheathe the throwing arm of Clint Moseley. But with no Reed and no Blake, and an injury to an integral backup offensive lineman in Jared Cooper?
Auburn may have a problem getting untracked.
The suspensions to LSU are definitely interesting, and they may prove a distraction for the first part of the game. But this feels a lot like the Arkansas game that Auburn had earlier. It’ll be close for a half, but LSU pulls away and wins comfortably.
