Prediction Picks, Week 8, featuring Alabama vs. Tennessee

It’s going to be a short week. Georgia, Florida, Mississippi State, and South Carolina are on the bye. Kentucky is facing a really embarrassing loss against Jacksonville State. (Kentucky’s outscored by 16 PPG, and over two yards per play. Jacksonville beat a better SEC team last year. And when you consider that Josh Clemons is gone? I’m gonna do it. I’m gonna say Jacksonville State wins.)

Last Week? I went 3-2. 28-20-1 is a very good number. And I say that LSU is going to win. Maybe they won’t cover, but they will win.

Alabama -30 vs. Tennessee
Tennessee got untracked in regards to the running game. But at that point? Matt Simms was being choked to death and the game was already out of doubt. And when you consider that Alabama’s defense might actually be better than LSU’s, and that Tennessee’s defense isn’t going to stop Trent Richardson by any stretch? It’s another blowout. Alabama 45, Tennessee 7.

Army +11 at Vanderbilt
I believe that Vanderbilt is going to win. But I know that the best running game in the nation behind the vaunted triple option. And even when Army gets beaten by mediocre teams from the MAC, this is a team that can get to 21 points pretty easily. And Vanderbilt just doesn’t have the offensive horses to get beyond 30. Jordan Rodgers keeps them in bowl contention though. Vanderbilt 27, Army 20.

Arkansas -15.5 at Mississippi
Ronnie Wingo and Dennis Johnson are going to actually have a chance at another good day. When Arkansas has a good day running the ball, it’s against the bottom third of running defenses? Ole Miss? They rank 115th. Add that to the passing game? The final Houston Nutt bowl is a blowout for team Whoo Pig Sooie. Arkansas 45, Ole Miss 21.
