The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, Georgia vs. Florida, Prediction Pick, 2011
Apologies, I’ve been busy. Real life and all that. But in the fun of the undercard before next weeks main event? We have a match-up where the winner will hold the inside track to lock down the SEC East Championship. All the momentum seems to belong to Georgia in this match-up. But like when the SEC was supposed to announce Missouri as the 14th member on Monday, will history trip fate?
The big news is the return of John Brantley. Without Brantley, this offense was as conservative as a joke about a Republican politican’s fanbase. But suffice it to say, they lost about 3 yards per play and 30 points a game once Brantley got hurt. Suffice it to say? Brantley was the glue that held this team together.
And Brantley can get on track quickly. Kwame Geathers and Shawn Williams will sit for the first half. That being said? Georgia’s defense is good. And they’ve managed to shut down pretty much everyone they’ve faced. Besides Vanderbilt. Considering that Florida in September was schedule inflated? There’s a real chance they can get got.
The Bulldogs, on the other hand, look to be missing their own Freshman sensation. Leading receiver Malcolm Mitchell was downgraded to doubtful, and while he wasn’t missed in the Vanderbilt game? He could be missed here.
Though that being said? When you consider just how much of the Gators September run defense was schedule inflated, and when you consider just how little teams have needed to pass on Florida in October? You can see the Bulldogs have a nice game with both yardage and scores.
But I suppose what it all comes down to is history. Sometimes there are teams that just own you despite all logic. And Florida has killed Georgia for the better part of two decades. Are the Bulldogs the better team on paper? Yes.
But when you consider these teams histories an that all the pressure is on a team that has shown an ability to be inconsistent? A few seniors are gonna walk away as four year Gator Bait.
Florida 27, Georgia 24.
