Will the Mad Genius have the right trick at the right time to get LSU through?
Alabama vs. LSU, Prediction Pick, 2011
Because why not? This is the game that even this week that everone was looking forward to. It’s a lock of a 1 vs. 2. It’s Trent Richardson versus the entire quiver of running backs LSU offers. It’s Courtney Upshaw versus Tyrann Mathieu. It’s the wild eyes of Les Miles versus the well-coiffed evil of Nick Saban. It’s gonna be big.
And to answer the question of which defense seems better, let me just say that it depends. Alabama is a the best when it comes to bogging teams down. They’re first in defensive yards per play, defensive scoring, defensive rush yards per game, defensive rush yards per attempt, opponent red zone trips, and defensive pass yards per attempt. Add to that a second in 3rd down conversions. a third in defensive passing yardage per game, and a tie for 5th in tackles for loss? You have a run-on sentence that undeniably proves that Alabama’s defense is mighty.
Where LSU’s defense responds? The big play. This team has generated over two turnovers per game, and they are also nice at getting sacks and turnovers. You all know about the Honey Badger, but in recent weeks? Barkevious Mingo and Sam Montgomery have been getting pressure. And while Alabama’s line is good? They are thin, and have been susceptible to the big play.
Will Trent Richardson continue on his pace for 30 touchdowns? No. Because while Alabama’s defense is great? LSU is still Top 5 against the run and top 10 against the pass. And even if you can manage yardage against them? They are great at turning what could be seven against them into only three.
So I suppose Jeremy Shelly is going to score the most points for Alabama. At least that is if Jarrett Lee reverts to a previous version. How it’s going to happen, at least with my feeling? Alabama will be up by 2. There will be a situation where Les Miles is going to be feeling saucy on a random 4th and 2 from the Alabama 48. If he makes it? LSU will steal it. If not? The game goes to the Tide.
My inclination is to go with the home team in a close, hard-fought, defensive struggle. Believe the hype. Alabama 19, LSU 14.

Alright,I feel like A.J. McCarron will have a tough game. My prediction is there will be alot of turnovers on Alabamas side. I’m biased towards Alabama but, I just don’t think they have it. I just don’t see it with the way Alabama has been playing in thier first halfs lately. I give it to LSU 21-10.
